COLLECTIVE ACTION ROADMAP

What is Collective Impact?

Collective impact is a network of community members, organizations, and institutions who advance equity by learning together, aligning, and integrating their actions to achieve population and systems level change.

  • A Strong Backbone Organization

Ready to Go

The District of Columbia has a really strong and robust community of leaders who have been fighting relentlessly for the rights of returning citizens and to make this city as welcoming and supportive of them as it would be for any other resident. Our objective is to help add value to what is already a movement to support returning citizens here in D.C. but also to increase alignment and better connections across sectors that are essential to this work.

Public and private partners have begun to come together with a specific focus on increasing the number of safe, stable housing opportunities for returning citizens here in D.C. and that is where we want to focus our efforts. While great work and broad collaboration is already occurring in the reentry space, there seems to be a need for an even more laser-focused effort specifically geared toward improving and expanding the housing options (and related supports) for returning citizens. We believe that a collective impact process is the most effective mechanism to achieve this outcome.
